Structural Integration, or 'Rolfing' [as many know it by, due to its founder, the late Ida Rolf] , can markedly improve ones posture, ease pain, increase mobility, and improve one's quality of life.  After going thru the 10-session series of SI [Rolfing], some increase their height by as much as an inch, or more.  Interestingly, many report that their various aches and pains seem to vanish.  Structural Integration can be described as a kind of holistic physical therapy which is typically performed once per week for 10 consecutive sessions, each building on the previous session.

An SI [Rolfing] practitioner acts to lengthen and reshape the various segments of fascia, a connective tissue, which wraps each individual muscle fiber, muscle groups, organs, and ultimately, envelopes the entire human structure. In turn, one is able to stand more upright and experience more ease of movement.  The analogy I like to make is related to having your alignment balanced at the time that you buy new tires for your car.  As most of us know, in doing so, we get better gas mileage, improved performance, and an extended life for our new tires.

Once the alignment (to our body) is restored, we are then able to go about our various activities, be that of a high-level athlete, or simply day to day living and enjoyment of our hobbies such as skiing, hiking, running, or biking, for example, no matter what our age.  Once our body returns to its more ideal form, we are then balanced within the field of gravity versus spending so much of our vital energy fighting against it.

“When the body gets working appropriately, the force of gravity can flow through. Then, spontaneously, the body heals itself.
There is an ongoing psychological change as well toward balance, toward serenity, toward a more whole person. The whole person evinces a more apparent, more potent psychic development.”
                                      ~ Ida P Rolf, Ph.D.

What are some of the main benefits of Rolfing?
While the results of Rolfing differ from person to person, clients commonly report many of the following benefits:

  • relief from pain

  • improved posture

  • greater mobility and freedom of movement

  • greater self confidence

  • less stress and tension

  • increased energy

  • increased body awareness

  • deeper breathing

  • more graceful movement

  • feeling taller and straighter

  • more physical and emotional balance in their lives

  • overall health benefits that last for years

The sessions average 75 minutes in length and cost $180 each. If you commit to going through all ten sessions, by paying in advance, I charge $1500 for the ten-session series.
